off again.

Hey There. Reporting from NYC after a few fun days and shows.
It's another beautiful day here. I have been super lucky having nothing but sunshine and good times with friends roaming around the city. Last night we ended up at Doc Holliday's where i found a jukebox packed with tons of old country. Lately I've been a sucker for loading up jukeboxes. Everywhere i go, shoving bills in and watching people's reaction.. that's the best part of it. During the days I've been taking the train into the lower east side and just walking aimlessly getting lost and running into cool little surprises. I've been in New York a lot lately and I'm going to miss it..well I'll be back in a couple of months.
Today I'm off to Atlanta to play a show tonight, than off to Tennessee tomorrow . I took pictures of a flickering " Jesus Saves " cross on the corner of S.4Th in the quiet early morning breath of a resting street. There was nothing but the sound of the last train pulling away above Broadway and a few birds chirping on the roof of the church. It was a beautiful moment and i hope it's grace carries me through today.

Where do you go to

I was driving home from getting a cup of coffee this morning and heard this song. I still had it in my head when i sat down to send out some emails, so i looked it up on you tube. Good late 60's pop.
enjoy,

Road Trip

Hello there,
Sorry It's been awhile since I've updated this blog. I'm getting ready to play a bunch of shows from NYC to Texas..and well i have a lot of work to do before i leave. I am looking forward to being back up in NYC. It seems I'm up there about every month these days for a show or two. The last time i was there a friend and i came across a real cool gallery at Bowery and Bleecker Street called Morrison Hotel. If you're into any one from Henry Diltz to Autumn de Wilde you should check it out. I have always been a fan of Henry, his black and white shots from the 60's and 70's are my favorite and Autumn simply has a wonderful creative eye.
I'm looking forward to the openness of the delta too. Playing music loud with the window down watching thunderstorms form in the distance over the cotton and tobacco fields. I think I'm one of the last one's not to own an i-pod. I swear i must have 200 Cd's floating around my car. I found an early Eartha Kitt record in there that a friend gave to me months ago, some old Kris Kristofferson, and Gram Parsons live stuff.. There's the new Jenny Lewis in there and the Murder By Death record i can't stop listening too. This list could go on forever. My friend Hugues gave me his new record that's french that i still try to sing along with cause the melodies are great. Rosetta Stone, where are you?!! Looks like i need to head to the book store for some language lessons 101 on CD, that should kill a few hours in the car.
Anyways, I'll try and update this while I'm out on the road..
Hope you're having a great weekend,

Last Call.

I sit in these bars late at night
drinking
waiting
wondering
holding down bar stools
breaking up fights
holding hair above foul toilets
praying to unknown gods
singing
crying
laughing
wanting
nothing but to hear your voice.

I hate this place.

like a tortured moon shining dim blue light
wanting nothing more than
the sun
to
rise.
