Hey There,
Just a quick update for you all . First off i want to thank everyone that came to all the shows in NYC, Chapel Hill and Wilmington . I want to give a shout out to the nice folks at the "Free People" store in Brooklyn for the fun little in store too . They fed me water and snacks reviving me after being up the whole night before dealing with canceled flights ! As of now we are working on dates for Europe in late November and will post them when more get confirmed.

Other news, this past week my friend Brian Mason and I finished up the music for a cool little short film for Southern Gothic Productions called " the true-love tale of Boyfriend & Girlfriend " Starring Austin Nichols and Hilarie Burton, written and directed by Nicholas Gray. Keep your eyes out for it, i think you all will love it !! For details and so on ... check out: www.sogopro.com

Besides all that, I've been throwing a lot of words in my notebook recently. I'll share some of it with you all soon. Also in the next week i'm going to post a photo shoot i did for a friend in NY. Lots of stuff coming your way.

Till then.. sing with the birds / howl with the dogs,

Andy

Update and the Lake

Hey Friends,
First off, sorry it's been forever since i've updated this ! I've been all over the place the last few months.  I'd like to thank everyone that came out to the shows and all great people i met in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, Georgia and NYC. Your support means a lot me and keeps me going on this long and winding road.
I've been up in the north for the past month or so writing new songs that i hope to share with you soon.  It was 20 miles to find any sort of WI-FI or even a grocery store! But all in exchange for a peaceful lake, a few passing boaters and the occasional Monk.. i was happy.  I was lucky to have a house to myself down a dirt road tucked between a cliff and a lake. The shore ran up to the footings on the front deck and at night the sky lit up with fireflies.  I got up early every morning, made coffee, scratched down words in a notebook and went fishing with my grandfathers old fishing gear.  I look back on my childhood and some of my fondest memories were fishing with him.  He passed on when i was eight.   Something i have been wanting to do for years was to dig out his fishing gear from my grandmothers basement and throw out a cast or two.  His poles were all twisted up and covered with dust and his old metal tackle box was full of rusty hooks and a collection of odd lures.  No one had touched the stuff in over twenty years.  I cleaned it off and put it in my car.  There was an energy in doing that.  I felt like he knew someday i'd be back for it, and i was.  It was an hour and a half drive from my grandmothers to where i was staying on Cayuga Lake.  Before i even went inside i went to the dock and casted out into the lake.  Within a matter of seconds i caught a fish on that same line and lure my grandfather left on there twenty years ago. It was dead silent, the lake was like glass and i shattered it with a  grin and tearful laughter.
I left there and headed to NYC for a show and to visit with some friends.  NYC seems to be my home away from home these days, in fact i'll be back up there in a few weeks for three shows in two days.  I also had the opportunity to do a photo shoot for a friend a few weeks ago, I might post some of them up on here, so keep an eye out, I've shot a bunch of new stuff!  (The picture above i took my first day at the lake.)
Well, off to get more coffee and get back to work !

40 West.

Here i am again
running with the truckers and gamblers of the late night highways.
I forever ask myself what this is about, this journey.
Is it a journey of the heart ?
I could go home and settle back into a day job with the endless wash of
day
to
day.
the alarm set 20 minutes ahead
knowing it's set 20 minutes ahead
the shrilling ring of the 5th and final snooze
going to the same job
same place
same people
arriving at the same time
departing at the same time
knowing i can pay my phone bill
sleep in my bed
eat 3 meals a day
have a safe haven
a nest to defuse in
Home.

but i chose this road
this hard concrete
with wearing tires
weary brakes
a direction unknown.
we gamble out here
with cards held tight to our chest
the hearts on our sleeves
the jokers running wild
the clubs in our pockets
the spades on our side
the diamonds left for dreaming

I'm out here with the gamblers
and we're in it to win
together and alone
among these highways
searching,
searching for
" "

off again.

Hey There. Reporting from NYC after a few fun days and shows.
It's another beautiful day here. I have been super lucky having nothing but sunshine and good times with friends roaming around the city. Last night we ended up at Doc Holliday's where i found a jukebox packed with tons of old country. Lately I've been a sucker for loading up jukeboxes. Everywhere i go, shoving bills in and watching people's reaction.. that's the best part of it. During the days I've been taking the train into the lower east side and just walking aimlessly getting lost and running into cool little surprises. I've been in New York a lot lately and I'm going to miss it..well I'll be back in a couple of months.
Today I'm off to Atlanta to play a show tonight, than off to Tennessee tomorrow . I took pictures of a flickering " Jesus Saves " cross on the corner of S.4Th in the quiet early morning breath of a resting street. There was nothing but the sound of the last train pulling away above Broadway and a few birds chirping on the roof of the church. It was a beautiful moment and i hope it's grace carries me through today.

Where do you go to

I was driving home from getting a cup of coffee this morning and heard this song. I still had it in my head when i sat down to send out some emails, so i looked it up on you tube. Good late 60's pop.
enjoy,

Road Trip

Hello there,
Sorry It's been awhile since I've updated this blog. I'm getting ready to play a bunch of shows from NYC to Texas..and well i have a lot of work to do before i leave. I am looking forward to being back up in NYC. It seems I'm up there about every month these days for a show or two. The last time i was there a friend and i came across a real cool gallery at Bowery and Bleecker Street called Morrison Hotel. If you're into any one from Henry Diltz to Autumn de Wilde you should check it out. I have always been a fan of Henry, his black and white shots from the 60's and 70's are my favorite and Autumn simply has a wonderful creative eye.
I'm looking forward to the openness of the delta too. Playing music loud with the window down watching thunderstorms form in the distance over the cotton and tobacco fields. I think I'm one of the last one's not to own an i-pod. I swear i must have 200 Cd's floating around my car. I found an early Eartha Kitt record in there that a friend gave to me months ago, some old Kris Kristofferson, and Gram Parsons live stuff.. There's the new Jenny Lewis in there and the Murder By Death record i can't stop listening too. This list could go on forever. My friend Hugues gave me his new record that's french that i still try to sing along with cause the melodies are great. Rosetta Stone, where are you?!! Looks like i need to head to the book store for some language lessons 101 on CD, that should kill a few hours in the car.
Anyways, I'll try and update this while I'm out on the road..
Hope you're having a great weekend,

Last Call.

I sit in these bars late at night
drinking
waiting
wondering
holding down bar stools
breaking up fights
holding hair above foul toilets
praying to unknown gods
singing
crying
laughing
wanting
nothing but to hear your voice.

I hate this place.

like a tortured moon shining dim blue light
wanting nothing more than
the sun
to
rise.

The pages of my book.

The pages of my book flutter in the thick ocean breeze.
waves crashing against the weathered rocks
washing away sins with salt and sermon
birds diving for silver fish
fisherman cast with hope and dreams
a young couple holding hands while dragging their
feet

The pages of my book flutter in the thick ocean breeze.
like the wings of the bird
the gills of the fish
the sway of the line
the innocence and grace of a summer dress

Welcome.

Hey There, I thought I'd start this blog as place were i can share some of my writing and stories.
I seem to write on anything i can find. Just yesterday i found something i wrote on the lid of a coffee cup, a torn napkin from Port City Java and a receipt from a toll booth on the Jersey turnpike. I have numerous notebooks, journals, notepads, post-its, ( pink and yellow ones) a stationary but for some reason i mostly pick up the oddest things to write on. So here, i can post stuff and let you in on some of my ramblings and straying lines of words.. I hope some of you find this and that you enjoy.. Welcome to my blog.
